But here we are, the day after the night before and it wasn't just a dream, ITV2 have a BAFTA award winning show on their schedule and frankly I couldn't be happier. Out of all the shows up for the viewer’s choice award, TOWIE was by far the best one there. Yes The Killing was a fantastic piece of television and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding was good, if not a bit repetitive. Miranda was humorous but nothing new and Sherlock, well I've never seen Sherlock, but it looks a bit bloody pretentious to me. Out of all the shows nominated TOWIE was by far and away the most entertaining and quite clearly the most popular, although not necessarily popular with their peers.
Amongst all the screaming and yelling when TOWIE won, the best part was the look on everyone’s face when they realised 'that Essex show' had won a BAFTA. Martin Freeman looked like he had been chewing on a wasp, and he wasn't the only one. Not one person looked happy for them and no one politely laughed at their acceptant speech. They were even left out of the montage at the end of the show. If BAFTA didn't want them there, then they shouldn't have put them up for the award in the first place. It was people's choice and the people voted in their numbers for the show they liked the best, me included.
Now its an award winning show, TOWIE won't be going anywhere soon. Mark, Arg, Lydia, Kirk and the rest of the gang are all here to stay. And if BAFTA don't like it, well I only have one thing to say to them 'Don't be Jel, be Reem'
