Firstly the apparent failure of the action spin off The Stewart Conundrum, on the international stage, meant there will be no more high octane adventures for Alf. If that wasn't enough, another hammerblow has smashed into the Home and Away Universe with the shock announcement that Mangrove Rising has been cancelled after just one season. Executives claimed that the superhero spin off never really garnered much of a fanbase. And that it lost out in the ratings, on several occasions, to the local weather reports. The truth of that is unclear, but what is clear is that we have seen the last of Power Prawn. This leaves Morag Bellingham Investigates as the last spin off standing. But even this show hasn't escaped unscathed. The second season has seen the episodes cut from twenty four to a, frankly, paultry twelve. How can such an exciting and complex programme such as Morag Bellingham Investigates hope to keep up the excellent adult drama with only half a season?
Also I have learnt that executives want at least two major characters to be axed. Who they are, at the moment, is a matter of pure speculation. I have also heard that the first episode will involved contestants for the Yabbie Creek's Next Top Model heats going missing and Morag is called in to solve the mystery. Dumbing down anyone?
