Burn Notice - Spy Tips and Uber Geeks

Burn Notice is back for its fourth season and while an enjoyable show, I couldn't tell you what the hell is going on. Are we supposed to know who 'burned' Michael Weston? If so, I haven't got a clue who they are. Is it now Bunny Colvin from The Wire and not Frasier's dad in charge of Management?

I kind of miss the relative innocence of the first couple of seasons, when Michael was genuinely seeking the reasons he was axed as a spy and we all, kind of, cared. Burn Notice still has that Robin Hood, saving the down trodden thing going on and Jeffery Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, and Sharon Gless have an easy charm and good chemistry. Plus the voice over spy tips haven't dried up. You know, where Michael acts like a cross between Jason Bourne and a Blue Peter presenter, telling us exactly how to break into a drug den with just a pen and some sticky back plastic. Somewhere out there, there must be uber geeks who are storing up every tip, and, at this moment, are probably preparing to storm some cartel compound. We wish them luck.

Back to Burn Notice, I kind of hope it doesn't get too mired in all this Management tosh. But the fact that Michael Ironside, as a Management gunrunner, was supposed to have been killed within the first few minutes of the opener doesn't bode well. You just know he's coming back, he's a well known face, and if television has taught us anything, we know that well known faces always come back.

Over.
