But then something happened, the 2nd Mass hit the road, and characters suddenly expressed themselves through deeds, and actions, not endless self righteous spoutings. The whole harnessed kids thing came into focus with the proposed skitter rebellion. Noah Wyle finally seemed at ease as an action hero, leading man. OK, Will Patton's Captain Weaver has never lost his Lloyd Bridges, Hot Shots, stuff, but we can live with that. Even the whole Charleston not being Utopia was well handled, sure its a scenario we've seen a fair few times, but it had some neat twists and turns and even the self righteousness levels were kept below the average. In its second season Falling Skies became a proper show. Which makes you wonder why the makers couldn't have gotten on the ball a little sooner, I'm sure lots of viewers called it a day after the first season. Which is a shame because now it can sit in well with the whole FX canon.
I won't spoil the end of season cliff hanger, but suffice to say it is an awful lot more intriguing than the whole Tom Mason gets on a space ship thing. Who would have ever thought it, I'm actually looking forward to season three of Falling Skies.
