666 Park Avenue

If 666 Park Avenue was a racehorse it would be Rosemary's Baby out of Stephen King, wow that's an image.

The show centres around the eerie Drake Residential Hotel, which is really 999 Park Avenue, but turn that upside down and what do you get, spooky right? It is owned by billionaire Gavin Doran (Terry O'Quinn)  and his wife Olivia  (Vanessa Williams) or John Lock from Lost and Renee from Desperate Housewives as we know them better. To say they are a creepy pair is an understatement, well it's a passive aggressive creepiness really, all friendly smiles and chilling charm. Into this comes new building manager Jane (Rachael Taylor) and her partner Henry ( Dave Annable ), they are the kind of attractive, intelligent couple you only ever find on TV. But you just know they are ripe for corruption by the Doran's a la Rosemary's Baby. But it is Jane who immediately taps into the shady past of the Drake, bad dreams, psychic flashback type stuff a la Stephen King. But Gavin and Olivia are hands on creepy as they manipulate the residents to aid their, as yet unknown, nefariousplans. Disappoint them and you end up sucked into a wall that kind of thing.

There is nothing desperately original about 666 Park Avenue, but it is enjoyable, reasonably creepy, and well played especially by Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams. Also it is character driven, which is a plus, much like the first season of American Horror Story before  they threw the baby out with the bath water for the o.t.t., 'so what?' follow up. Sadly 666 Park Avenue was cancelled, but hopefully in enough time to give us a proper ending and not lumber us with yet another never to be resolved cliff hanger.
