The Mob Doctor

Just when we were all starting to worry that no one would ever be able to splice Grey's Anatomy and The Sopranos together along comes The Mob Doctor.

Jordana Spiro plays gifted, caring surgeon Grace Devlin. We know Grace is gifted because she saves a young boys life and we know she is caring because she throws a pink fit when he dies due to no fault of her own. But Grace has a secret, she owes the mob a debt for not killing her brother (What you gonna do?). So there is your basic tension, or complete lack of it. The first episode was a will she, won't she as Grace is told to kill an informer who she is going to operate on. She squirms out of it with the help of retired Don Constantine (played by William Forsythe modifying his accent just a little from the one he used in Boardwalk Empire).

The Mob Doctor was billed as a gritty medical drama, but in all honesty it is about as gritty as Peppa Pig. It failed to spark on any level, which is probably why it was cancelled. So you can save yourself the effort of watching this dull, old show and quietly wait for the new season of Grey's Anatomy.
