Trollied - Are The Wheels Coming Off?

The third series of Sky 1's supermarket comedy Trollied rolled in like, well, a trolley with a wonky wheel. Everything appeared a little forced as the cast seemed to be trying a little too hard to get the whole thing going. I liked the first two series, so I was willing it on but found myself waiting for the laughs that never really came.

This time last year we were wallowing in the powerhouse performance of Stephanie Beecham's Lorraine, but there is none of that this time out as the Valco value appears to be slipping. The new series twist was the introduction of Director of Strategy Richard France (Chris Geere). OK we don't expect subtlety from Trollied, but Richard was a hideously sledgehammer over the top, buzz word, character and more importantly, unlike series two's Lorraine, he is more irritating than funny. This could prove a bit of a stumbling block as the episodes roll by and he gets increasingly on our nerves.

It remains to be seen if  the trusty regulars can dig us out of this hole. Perhaps, just perhaps, Trollied has started to pass its sell by date. Let's hope not.
