Beauty and the Beast Rejig

I think I saw the original series of Beauty and the Beast, but all I can seem to remember about it is Linda Hamilton, the beast had a mullet and he looked like most every Arsenal player of the mid 1980's. So I came to the new re-imagining, rejig ( call it what you like ) reasonably fresh.

Ex Smallville resident Kristin Kreuk plays Detective Catherine Chandler who works for the NYPD's Tight Jeans Squad. An elite team that can run, jump and kung fu fight in the afore mentioned tight jeans. Well ten years before she got this gig Catherine watched her mother murdered and then was saved from her attackers by a mysterious creature. Any guesses as to who that was? Anyone?...Anyone? Yep it was the Beast. So now back in the Tight Jeans Squad Catherine is trying to solve a mundane murder. A case which was eerily similar to the one in the opening episode of Elementary, which in turn was eerily similar to a dozen episodes of The Mentalist. Anyway, following the Roman road of clues it leads Catherine to, can you guess? Anyone? Anyone? Yep the Beast. The Beast,Vincent, is played by Jay Ryan; it drove me mad trying to think where I'd seen him before. I had to look it up, he was Jack Scully in Neighbours, yeah ex professional footballer, that Jack Scully. Where was I? Oh yes, the Beast well, it seems he was turned beastly by the US Army in Afghanistan, so cue ten ton of bogus double dealing and faux intrigue in episodes to come. Also in the mix is very British, pathologist type dude, Evan Marks played by Max Brown he of The Tudors and Crossroads, most people thought that was the same show anyway, so his Beauty and the Beast pedigree is impeccable

After this deeply so so and hokey pilot not even the introduction of the tea pot, cup, and candelabra could save the rest of this series.
