Mad Dogs Madness.

Mad Dogs the show that ran out of steam after its third episode is now in its third series, no I don't know why either.

What started out as an entertaining lads holiday gone terribly wrong jaunt has turned into a dull, nothing much happening affair. You get the feeling Sky are only keeping it going because of the four main actors, John Simm, Philip Glenister, Marc Warren and Max Beesley. They must think, "we've got the cast, what else do we need?". Well, story would be a good thing (to answer my own imaginary question). The first series just about limped in, then the second saw our hapless heroes Baxter (Simm), Quinn (Glenister), Rick (Warren) and Woody (Beesley) do nothing more than run around or sit around. So I, for one, wasn't holding out much hope for the third series and my fears were well founded.

The opener saw the quartet held in a Moroccan prison camp, only to be told the CIA had put a hit out on them. This was so convoluted and far fetched that it made the average plot twist in TOWIE look like Game of Thrones. Anyway, our heroes were left in South Africa (don't ask) then split up and the second episode pushed on two years. But anyone  hoping for a bit of character development, were to be  sorely disappointed. In fact with a hefty slicing off of the flab the first two installments could easily have fitted into one.

That is the problem with Mad Dogs, nothing much happens creator and writer Cris Cole should have studied Breaking Bad a bit more and he would see you have to plunge your characters into peril on a regular basis, not let them noodle along just because you have four name actors in the main roles.
