Sleepy Hollow

Universal Channel is certainly the place to find updates these days; following hard on the heels of  Bates Motel comes Sleepy Hollow.

One minute Ichabod Crane (the very English Tom Mison) is chopping off the head of the (soon to be) Headless Horseman, the next he is waking up over two hundred years later in modern America. Not that this fact seems to bother Ichabod that much, he appears to adapt to this strange new world amazingly well. I remember it took Catweazle a lot longer. At the same time the Headless Horseman has also reared his ugly head (or lack of it) again. He is going around decapitating all and sundry. There is a neat nerdy  joke with Clancy Brown losing his head. Well, nobody believes Ichabod's tales of serving under George Washington, and coming back from the dead, except police officer Abbie Mills (Nichole Beharle), who is about to leave Sleepy Hollow for Quantico. The two team up, pretty swiftly, and here is where the tosh sets in, lots of waffle about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, good and bad witches and a demon that looks like Tim Curry from Legend. Yet again the characters seem to accept all this stuff pretty readily, perhaps they have all been brushing up on their Buffy box sets.

It's hard to see where Sleepy Hollow is going, you can only imagine what a convoluted hell it will be by season three, if it doesn't get the chop first.
