Sky Living's new show Doll & Em is almost a brand new genre of television. A programme so slight you think you've missed even though you've just watched it.
Created and starring Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, there really isn't that much going on. Down on her luck best friend Dolly comes to L.A, to be film star Emily's P.A. only to be vaguely incompetent. That's about it. There's the, now, usual actors playing themselves. But Doll & Em doesn't have the push, power and general umph of shows like Entourage or Episodes. The whole thing wafts by on a cloud of whimsy. So much so, you would be hard pressed to say what the hell happened. Something must have because it has just taken up half an hour of your life. But this is such a whimsy fest that it makes Wes Anderson look like Quentin Tarantino.
The first season box set of Doll & Em will probably sell very well because it is better than a good night's sleep or a month's worth of meditation.
