Full English - A scathing review.

The Americans have had quality animated comedy to themselves for far too long. The Simpsons,Futurama, South Park, Family Guy, American Dad. Well now we Brits have entered the arena with Channel 4's Full English and I don't think Seth MacFarlane will exactly be quaking in his boots.

The show centres around the Johnson family, well that's what I think their name is, because Full English didn't really take the time to introduce the characters it ploughed on like we already knew, and loved them. Wrong on both counts.

The first episode involved overweight EMO daughter Eve going on Britain's Got Talent. Full English was billed as asatirical comedy, so where better to insert your sharp scalpel than Britain's Got Talent. Yep, no ones ever attempted that one. Every joke had been done before, mostly by Peter Kay, and done a million times better. There is nothing new, or funny, about the tragic back-stories of contestants anymore, these shows have almost become self satirising. Full English lumbered on being crude for the same reason a dog licks its balls, because it can. There was no need for it and it certainly didn't make the show any funnier, it just gave it a trying too hard feel.

The writers, let's call them that to be polite, Jack and Harry Williams obviously subscribe to the motto 'Why be subtle when you can take a sledgehammer to the situation'. Add to all this bog standard animation and you get one of the most miserable half hours you will ever have in front of a television. Full English is certainly full of something and it is not laughs.
