RIP Apt 23 - You're everywhere and nowhere!

In what will be a surprise to no one Don't Trust the B--- in Apt 23 was cancelled last night and the final 8 episodes were pulled from ABC's schedule.

JVDB confirmed the news when he tweeted the following:

Sad to say ABC has pulled  and will not be airing the 8 remaining episodes any time soon. Translation: we’ve basically been cancelled.

He also went on to say

You've got to give ABC props for ever picking us up in the first place. They took a shot at something original & edgy. I respect them for it

And I have to agree with JVDB on that. Apt 23 was original and it was edgy. In a world where New Girl and 2 Broke Girls is considered the height of comedy, Apt 23 was fresh and original and incredibly close to the mark for an ABC family show. It didn't conform and because of that it was hilarious.

What i did like about Apt 23 was how strong the cast was; Krysten Ritter was hilarious and dark whilst Dreama Walker held the show together even if she wasn't the funniest character however for me JVDB was the star of the show. For any Dawson's Creek fan, like myself, it was a joy to watch The Beek be given a role which showed him not to be the whiny boring kid from Capeside but actually a very good comedy actor. He managed to make me belly laugh on more then one occasion in the 8 episodes I've seen so far. JVDB's fake self was very similar to Matt Le Blanc's in Episodes but this somehow managed to make me laugh more. It's a shame we wont get to see him play a role like that again.

Someone online mentioned that Apt 23 would have worked well as a cartoon, and seeing as Nahnatchka Khan used to be a writer for the brilliant American Dad it isn't hard to see how this could have worked in animation form. Hopefully one day Khan will be given the green light to make another show which somehow connects with the audience in a way that networks will understand.

JVDB in all his wisdom also tweeted this

I know most of you watched us on your own time & platform and that the competitive network scheduling game is irrelevant to you...

And once again The Beek is right. This is the digital age where we can't be dictated to by networks as to what time we watch our shows. We have Sky + and the internet to do all that now and its high time that the big companies start taking into consideration how people watch their shows before other great comedies get cancelled like Apt 23.

Anyway to conclude I would say if you get a chance watch the first 8 episodes of Dont Trust The B in Apt 23, they are funny and clever, just try not to get too attached to it!
