The Rise and Fall of Two and a Half Men.

Do you remember when you used to watch Taggart and say: "Why's this still called Taggart he's not even in it?"
Well now the same sort of question pertains to Two and a Half Men.

Jake is no longer around, so the name is only being kept to maintain brand recognition I suppose. All vestiges of the old show have now, more or less, gone and you get the feeling the producers would love this to be a flat out Ashton Kutcher vehicle. The only snag there is that every character they have tried to introduce through Walden has been an abject failure. So this season they have gone along the Alan route and we get Jenny  (Amber Tamblyn) Charlie's long lost daughter, but all that does, by constantly referencing Charlie, is remind us how great the show used to be.

Sadly as each Walden season goes by that greatness fades from the memory. Originally it was a show about family, with a good ensemble feel, these days it is hard to say what Two and a Half Men is about. Alan is now little more than an unsavoury moocher, as his brother Charlie was almost bound to have Alan stay with him, but as each episode passes you start to question why Walden would have him around the house.

Two and a Half Men will probably run for a fair few more seasons and will ultimately be remembered as an average show and the brilliance it once burnt with will be long forgotten.
