Agents of SHIELD.

Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD (I can't be bothered to put the dots in) has been running for a fair few weeks now and it feels like I have seen the same episode half a dozen times.

The whole thing  seems more than a little flat and it is not helped by most of the main characters melding into one big blob. With the exception of Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and May (Ming-Na Wen) the other agents just haven't popped out of the back ground. And Brit pair Fitz (Ian De Caestecker) and Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) are just plain annoying. When Jemma fell out of a plane, a few episodes back, I felt 'Oh well no loss' and I'll bet I wasn't alone in the thought. Sadly she was rescued. Also, what they think is a selling point, the way the show closely relates to the films, really can be alienating. If you do not have a PHD in Avengers Assemble or haven't gotten around to seeing the second Thor film; then things can get a little confusing. The real surprise to the overall flatness of Agents of SHIELD (still not putting the dots in) is that it is co created by Joss Whedon. In  tension, snappy dialogue, and menace this is closer to Doll House than it is to Buffy and Angel.

By far and away the highlight of the season so far was Samuel L Jackson's cameo as Nick Fury and perhaps the show will need a few more Avenger appearances to spice things up. OK, it could all turn around ,it took Arrow a fair few episodes to blossom into  the excellent show it is now, but on this evidence it might be time for the Agents of SHIELD to disassemble.
