Educating Joey Essex‏

As deep and insightful documentaries go, Educating Joey Essex is about as deep and insightful as ITV 2 will get.

Sending Joey to Africa for the same reason a dog licks its balls, because it can, we were given  nice but dim to the max. Joey's education  was mainly a little Soweto street dancing, a selfie fuelled safari, and a trip to Uganda to see gorillas in the wild. That was it. It was nothing Karl Pilkington hasn't done a million times funnier and ( unsurprisingly ) with a million times more insight. But Joey Essex isamiable enough company and yes we know he says stupid things so it was very annoying to have an unfunny, snotty, Come Dine With Me (esque) commentary from Philip Schofield. The only reason for this obtrusive voice over was to hammer home Joey's lack of knowledge and make us feel superior to the rich celebrity getting paid for a holiday in Africa. Yeah, who feels like the idiot now?

With Joey Essex ITV 2 has finally found a TOWIE 'star' to build a show around. You get the feeling Joey will be educated in all corners of the globe over the coming year or so. Which is, sort of, OK for us but I should imagine very bad news for Mark Wright.
