Falling Skies Falling Into A Coma.

Falling Skies has always been an odd show. It started out as a super self righteous, ham fisted War of Independence  allegory. Then as Noah Wyle, eased into the Tom Mason character, it blossomed a bit, we had a kind of three way Alien Earth Invasion thing going on and it looked like it had turned itself around and actually become enjoyable. Then this new season hit and now it resembles the fag end of the 80's version of V. We have the odd looking Lexi (Scarlett Byrne ), playing out that whole baffling V Star Child routine. That never worked in the 80's, so imagine how bad it plays these days. And we have a whole host of characters vying for Michael Ironside's Ham Tyler role. The latest episode was just about people getting dug out of rubble, which wasn't exactly gripping viewing. It just provoked shouts of "Get on with it." Plus it was so darkly filmed it was almost impossible to identify Tom Mason's three interchangeable sons.
On the upside we can still marvel at the name Moon Bloodgood when it comes up on the titles. ( second only to The Walking Dead's Caleb Womble ). And smile at Will Patton's on going Lloyd Bridges impression from the Hot Shots films. But Falling Skies  is seriously running out of steam, perhaps it's time to make the next outing, the final season and give us a resolution to what has become a bit of a mess.
