Stalker: Police Squad 2 (and a bit) .

Criminal Minds has a lot to answer for in general, but most of all for giving us that stream of consciousness exposition babble type thing. You know when the characters spout on about the unsub's psychosis just for our benefit, when everyone else more or less knows it. Well new ( very ) procedural cop show Stalker takes that whole thing and raises it to a greater level.
New to the Stalker Squad is Frank Drebin played by Leslie Nielsen, no wait, that's wrong, it's Jack Larsen played by Dylan McDermott. Jack is a top ranking know it all who makes Sherlock Holmes look like Eamon Holmes. He'll take one half glance at a situation and basically give us the perp gift wrapped, "He's a sexual stalker with a peg leg, chronic asthma who has spent eight months in a Tibetan Monastery and talks with a lisp." None of this plays well with his new boss Beth Davis ( Maggie Q ) Beth is equally good at her job and looks and dresses like a super model on her days off. Also peeved by Jack's sudden entrance are the other members of Police Squad, Stalker whatever, Janice Lawrence ( Mariana Klavenko ) and Ben Caldwell ( Victor Rusuk ) but they come across as every bit as annoying as those two boffin types in both Agents of SHIELD and The Flash, so we don't care about them too much. It's Jack and Beth's brilliance we are supposed to marvel at. In one episode Jack discovers a great big boot print and a massive tree house that the local Cops had somehow missed. But both our heroes are damaged goods. Beth has been stalked in the past and there is something going on there. And Jack seems to be openly stalking his ex wife Deputy D.A., or something like it, Amanda Taylor ( Elisabeth Ruhm ). So that's the side dish of added character we are randomly served up  in Stalker to make it a little more interesting. Normally I would be walking away from this show, but it is created by Kevin Williamson and we all know The Following got off to a very shaky start then turned itself around. So perhaps Stalker will be the same, but I have my doubts.
