The Big Painting Challenge You Gotta Laugh

I'm not sure if its a first but the BBC has ripped off Sky Arts with The Big Painting Challenge. Let's face it the show is Portrait Artist of the Year by any other name. But where the Sky Arts programme is Premiere League the BBC rip off is a first round exit from the Johnston's Paint Trophy. The standard in this portrait episode was laughably bad, especially in the celeb challenge. Poor Rudolph Walker and Pam St Clement sat for four hours, the same amount of time in Portrait Artist of the Year funny enough, to be shown paintings that made me laugh out loud. In the Sky Arts show the celebs are presented with their favourite portrait. Here it looked like they wanted to bash the artists over the head with their deeply poor efforts. Richard Bacon and Una Stubbs try their best to keep proceedings going while the artists, and I use the term loosely, do their best to destroy the show. This weeks reject was cowboy hat wearing Jan, who spent his life as a Police Artist, on this evidence a lot of villains must have got away on his watch
