Thronecast : The Unwelcome Sue Perkins Show

Last year I said Thronecast should be handed over to the geeks, who are really the only people who would bother with a half hour show concerning the episode of Game of Thrones we have just seen. Well Sky Atlantic certainly don't think that way because now Thronecast is an hour long and has become more like an X Factor follow up show, including the easily pleased audience. Plus the whole thing has been taken over by Sue Perkins. So it automatically becomes how does Sue Perkins react to Game of Thrones?... How does Game of Throne effect Sue Perkins?... And how can Sue Perkins make weak jokes about Game of Thrones? Last year's host Jamie East has been shunted into the role of Sue's sidekick and he looks like he is enjoying it every bit as much as Theon enjoyed losing his member. Plus he is now the Westeros expert in residence, usurping last seasons Rachel Parris, who made a better fist of it than the hapless Jamie. Also axed are the vaguely creepy Elio and Linda, the only people in the history of Thronecast who actually knew what they were talking about. Instead we had a clueless historian, understandably struggling to say who Daenerys most resembled in history. Seeing there haven't been that many powerful female conquerors who wandered around with three dragons. So it was left to Sue Perkins to suck all the air out of X Factor Extra, err sorry Thronecast with weak jokes and endless twaddle. This is a show that felt stretched when Geoff Lloyd struggled through twenty minutes of it, but now it really is ten minutes of entertainment crammed into an hour. On the upside it is Michael Jackson week on Game of Thrones next week so that should be good. Sadly Mance Rayder was voted off so we won't be seeing his version of Beat It. But I'm sure the, it's all about me, Sue Perkins and the little boy lost Jamie East will do their best to get us trough to Boot Camp.
